Despite having to postpone our Greater London Learning Disability Community of Practice event on Monday 30 March, we are hosting 2 webinars to get the community together and share examples of best practice.
On Monday 30 March, from 1-2pm, Yvonne Newbold and Nick Wright will join us to share their examples of positive practice and to answer questions you may have for them.
Yvonne is a writer, speaker and trainer who is also the mother to three children, including Toby who is multiply disabled with profound learning disabilities. She is passionate about doing whatever it takes to make things better for children and adults who have a learning disability or autism, as well as for their families. In this webinar, Yvonne will share about the challenges she and her family are currently facing due to COVID-19, and will explore creative ways to enable adults with a learning disability to keep in touch with the people who are important to them in this period of social distancing and isolation.
Nick Wright joined Beyond Words as a Non-Executive Director in 2017 and became Chief Executive in March 2018. Books Beyond Words are books with only pictures and no words. By telling the whole story in pictures, each Books Beyond Words narrative gives people the chance to work together and explore different types of situations. Very topically, Beyond Words have produced a resource to help people understand what the Coronavirus is, how it impacts them, and how people might cope with it. In this webinar, Nick will speak about this new free resource.
On Tuesday 31 March, from 12:30-1pm, Paul Richards from Stay Up Late and Gig Buddies will be joining us. Gig Buddies and Stay Up Late have found creative ways to keep the community connected through music and digital technology during this time of social distancing and isolation. Paul will speak to us about what they are doing and how you can get involved.
We hope you can join us! If you’re unable to join us, no worries – register anyway and we’ll send a recording to your inbox.
